Freshmen Place in Top 20 at NCAA Regional

LINCOLN, Neb. - The Stephen F. Austin women's track and field team kicked off the first-ever NCAA Midwest Regional Friday morning with the javelin throw. Both Ladyjack athletes in the event recorded a top-20 finish.
Freshman Sarah Emerson recorded a throw of 143-02 on her third and final attempt to finish 13th overall. Classmate Kasie Query recorded a throw of 132-06. Query's mark was good enough to finish 19th overall.
Query returns to action Friday evening when she will compete in the pole vault. Junior Alex Beckworth will begin competition in the 110-meter hurdles Friday afternoon.
The Ladyjacks will have athletes competing in the shot put, long jump and 200-meter dash Friday evening.
