
SFA Finishes Second Day at Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin men's and women's track and field team concluded the second day of competition at the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas Thursday. The Ladyjack heptathletes had a strong performance in the final day of the heptathlon. Senior Tracy Schupp finished seventh overall with 4,851 points. Schupp finished second in the javelin with a throw of 112-11. Freshman Lindsey Bryson moved up four spots Thursday to finish eighth overall (4,521 points).
Sophomore Ana Rodriguez recorded a time of 17:45.32 in the 5,000-meter run to finish eighth overall. In the men's 5,000 meters, junior Nathan Flores clocked a time of 14:54.84 to finish eighth, while classmate Justin Meier was only 1.01 seconds off Flores' pace to finish 11th overall.
Sophomore Jocelyn Stevens ran a time of 1:01.78 in the 400-meter hurdle prelims but failed to advance to the finals. Senior Bonnie McHan finished just behind Stevens with a time of 1:03.72.
Junior Alex Beckworth competed in the 400-meter hurdles for the Lumberjacks. He recorded a time of 55:18.
The SFA track and field team will return to action Friday for the third day of competition in the Texas Relays. The meet will begin at 9:30 a.m., with the women's 4X100-meter relay.
