The Lumberjacks close out spring drills for 2003 Friday night at 7:00 p.m. with the annual spring game. Local media members Kevin Gore, of The Nacogdoches Daily Sentinel, and Shawn Clynch of KTRE-TV, will square off as guest coaches Friday night in a revival of The Media Bowl.
Just before practice Thursday afternoon, Gore and Clynch met with the team and coaches and conducted a coin flip to decide which would coach the offense and which would coach the defense Friday night. Gore won the coin toss and elected to coach the defensive unit. He will be assisted by defensive coordinator Kim Dameron.
Clynch will coach the offensive team, assisted by Greg Stevens.
The defense will score one point for any defensive stop. An additional two points will be awarded for any three and out series. The defensive unit will also be awarded points on turnovers and any touchdowns they score as a result.
The spring game will culminate a day long set of activities on campus that include a Crawfish Boil in Lumberjack Alley beginning at 1:00 p.m. A Mud volleyball tournament is also set to take place near the alley beginning with registration at 11:30 a.m. The volleyball tournament and crawfish boil are being sponsored by the SFA Student Foundation.
