
SFA Track Heads to Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin men and women's track and field team will be in Austin, Texas, Wednesday through Saturday at the Texas Relays. The Texas Relays will host some of the nation's top athletes. The Lumberjacks will be sending 11 athletes while the Ladyjacks will be sending 15. The multi events get underway Wednesday at noon and will conclude Wednesday afternoon.
NCAA Regional Qualifiers Sophomore Jocelyn Stevens qualified for the NCAA Regional meet with her time of 1:01.30 in the 400-meter hurdles. Sophomore Shametra Boykins (40-7.75) and senior Jessica Claiborne (40-2.00) both qualified for the regional in the triple jump. Senior Destine Rawls met the NCAA Regional qualifying standard in the shot put with her toss of 47-3.00. Freshman Kasie Query qualified for the NCAA Regional meet in the pole vault (12-0.00). Query also qualified for the regionals in the javelin (147-02.00). Classmate Sarah Emerson also threw an NCAA Regional qualifying mark of 140-02. Emerson finished seventh overall in the javelin.
Ladyjacks in the League: Freshman Jamie Washington is second in the 100-meters (12.08). Sophomore Jocelyn Stevens is third in the 100-meter hurdles (14.42), fourth in the high jump (5-5.00) and leads the conference in the 400-meter hurdles (1:01.30). Senior Katie Lonergan is third in the 400-meter hurdles (1:04.65) while classmate Bonnie McHan is fifth (1:04.81). Senior Jessica Claiborne is third in the 200-meter dash (24.77), third in the long jump (19-2.50) and fourth in the triple jump (40-2.00). Sophomore Jessica Partin is second in the 1,500-meter run with her time of 4:52.80. Sophomore Ana Rodriguez leads the SLC with her time of 17:14.67 in the 5,000 meters. Freshman Kasie Query is tops in the Southland Conference, clearing a height of 12-0.00 in the pole vault. Query is second in the javelin with a distance of 147-02. Junior Jennifer Schneider is fifth in the league with a mark of 11-0.00. Sophomore Shametra Boykins is third in the league in the triple jump with her mark of 40-7.75. Senior Destine Rawls is first in the shot put (47-3.00), while junior Blake Gordon is fifth with a toss of 44-9.75. Rawls is also currently second in the discus with her throw of 147-07. Freshman Sarah Emerson is fifth in the league in the javelin with a mark of 140-02. A trio of Ladyjacks sit atop the Southland standings in the heptathlon with senior Tracy Schupp leading the way (4,709 points). Sophomore Lindsey Bryson is second with 4,674 points and freshman Crystal Chang is third (4,195 points).
Lumberjacks in the League: Sophomore Jonathan James is fifth in the SLC with his time of 14.44 in the 110-meter hurdles. Freshman Chance Edwards is fifth in the league in the 1,500-meter run with his time of 3:59.86. Junior Mike Thompson leads the league in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:22.36. Freshman Daniel Williams is fifth in the conference in the steeplechase with his time of 9:50.70. Junior Justin Meier is currently tops in the SLC with his time of 14:48.38 in the 5,000 meters. Classmate Nathan Flores is third in the 5,000 meters with his time of 14:57.19, while freshman Julian Acuna is fourth (15:04.02).
Up Next... The SFA track and field team returns to action Saturday April 12th, when it hosts the Dogwood Invitational. The meet will take place at Fletcher Garner Track.
