NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team will close out the 2002-03 regular season this week with home games against Louisiana-Monroe and Northwestern State. The Lady Indians will be in Nacogdoches Wednesday for a 6 p.m., tipoff against the Ladyjacks. SFA will return to the floor two nights later for the final game of the season against Northwestern State. The Senior Night game will get underway at 8:15 (or 30 minutes following the men's game) p.m. Recognition of the Ladyjack seniors will take place prior to tipoff. Both games will be played at the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
SFA vs. the Lady Indians The Ladyjacks lead the all-time series, 37-11 (.771) against Louisiana-Monroe. SFA has won the last three consecutive games against the Lady Indians, and six of the last eight meetings. The Ladyjacks kicked off the Southland Conference schedule with a 64-59 victory at ULM earlier this season.
SFA vs. the Lady Demons The Ladyjacks are 41-13 (.759) all-time against Northwestern State. The Ladyjacks have won nine of the last 12 meetings between the two schools, but dropped a 94-74 decision to the Lady Demons earlier this season in Natchitoches, La.
Good-Bye Seniors The Ladyjacks will be saying good-bye to three seniors Friday night at the William R. Johnson Coliseum. The three senior are Amy Collins, Yolanda Grant and Nathesia Wright. During their time on campus, SFA has recorded a 91-29 (.758) record, won three Southland Conference regular-season titles, won three SLC tournament titles, made three NCAA tournament appearances and won an NCAA tournament game.
Home Court Security The Ladyjacks are one of the all-time winningest teams at home, with an all-time record of 316-72 (.814), including a perfect 13-0 record last season. The Ladyjacks have now won 50 of their last 53 games in the William R. Johnson Coliseum. The last time SFA lost a home game in the Southland Conference was an 88-77 setback to Sam Houston State during the 1998-99 season. The Ladyjacks are 8-1 (.833) at home in 2002-03.
Tradition of Winning The SFA Ladyjack basketball program has been one of the most dominant in women's basketball history. The Ladyjacks are among the nation's all-time top 10 with 727 wins. The Ladyjacks are also among the all-time top 10 with a .753 winning percentage (727-239).
Tradition of Winning in the SLC As dominant as SFA has been nationally, they have been just as dominant in the Southland Conference. The Ladyjacks are the conference's most dominant team, compiling a 247-25 (.908) all-time record. SFA has won 14 of a possible 15 SLC tournament titles and 13 regular-season titles. SFA has also recorded four undefeated seasons in league play and has had 33 players named All-SLC.
Looking Ahead... The Ladyjacks will be competing in the Southland Conference Championship tournament Tuesday March 11th, through Saturday March 15th. The final week of the regular season will determine the Ladyjack's seed in the tournament. SFA is currently tied for second in the SLC and could finish anywhere from the No.-2 through the No.-5 seed.
