
SFA Beats Baylor, Loses To LSU

The SFA softball (3-5) team split a pair of games Saturday at the LSU tournament, beating Baylor in the opener, 4-2, and losing the second game Saturday to host team, LSU, by a 3-1 final.
Crissy Autry picked up the win against the Bears going five innings, allowing one run on five hits. Autry also struck out five along the way. Traci Moore came on in relief, allowing a run on two hits in two innings of work to pick up the save.
Lee Lara helped lead the SFA offensive attack with a pair of RBIs and a run scored while going 1-3 at the plate. Meryl MCGuire also went 1-3 with an RBI and a run scored, while Carrie Woydziak also went 1-2 at the plate.
The 'Jacks couldn't quite find a way to beat LSU in the afternoon game, dropping a 3-1 decision to the nation's ninth ranked squad. Traci Moore started and gave up three runs, only one earned in taking the loss. Nicole Carter pitched three and a third innings of relief, not allowing a run while scattering three hits.
SFA picked up five hits against LSU pitching but managed to push across only one run, leaving eight runners stranded.
