Louisiana Saturday Night On Tap For SFA

Needing to rebound in more ways than one, the Lumberjacks close out their current three game road swing Saturday night in Lake Charles, La. against McNeese State. For the first time since Dec. 14, the Lumberjacks enter a game following a loss. UT-Arlington handed the 'Jacks a 60-52 setback Wednesday night, in Arlington, to knock the 'Jacks from the ranks of the unbeaten in SLC play. The loss also snapped SFA's 13-game winning streak.
A major factor in Wednesday night's loss to the Mavericks was being outrebounded by a 34-24 margin. SFA has been outrebounded in 8 of 11 conference games, but has overcome the deficit through good shooting. Wednesday night, that failed the 'Jacks as they slipped to only a 36.5 percent field goal percentage, the second worst night of the year.
SFA outrebounded the Cowboys by seven (33-26) in the 'Jacks 79-69 win over McNeese State earlier this year in Nacogdoches, plus shot just over 46 percent from the floor. SFA was also aided by 39 free throw attempts, making 25 (.641). The 39 free throws against McNeese State is the single game high for SFA so far this year.
C Percy Green remains the 'Jacks most consistent offensive player averaging 13.1 points per game. Green had 16 to lead SFA in Wednesday night's loss to UT-Arlington. Green was 7-10 from the field Wednesday and continues to lead the SLC in field goal percentage, shooting .563 from the field. He enters play Saturday tenth in the SLC in scoring.
F Antonio Burks showed signs of emerging from his scoring slump Wednesday night with 8 points, but has not been in double figures in seven of his last eight games after opening the year scoring at least 10 points in eight of the Lumberjacks first nine games.
THE OPPONENT
McNeese State (9-9,5-6) enters the game having just completed a five game road trip during which time the Cowboys went 2-3. McNeese State has dropped two straight including Monday night's 68-65 loss to Lamar on FOX Sports Net.
G Jason Coleman leads the Cowboys and is fifth in the SLC in scoring, averaging 15.6 ppg. F Damond Williams leads the Cowboys on the boards, pulling down 5.6 rpg. The Cowboys are the best three point shooting team in the SLC, shooting three's at a .394 clip.
