ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - Roy Johnson and John Daniel each scored 14 points to lead Texas-Arlington to a 60-52 victory over Stephen F. Austin on Wednesday night.
The Mavericks (9-10, 6-5 Southland) trailed most of the first half, but took a 30-28 lead at halftime when Daniel nailed a 3-pointer with six seconds left in the half.
One of the big stories of the game was UT-Arlington's dominance on the glass, outrebounding the Lumberjacks 34-24 for the game. SFA could not get any second chance opportunities and the lack of rebounds coupled with the poor shooting night spelled doom for the Lumberjacks.
Percy Green led Stephen F. Austin (14-4, 10-1) with 16 points. Ben Hunt scored 11 points for the Lumberjacks. Dedrick Sanders grabbed five rebounds, and Marcus Clark had four assists.
Texas-Arlington shot 49 percent from the field for the game, compared to Stephen F. Austin's 36.5 percent. The 36.5 percent shooting night was the second worst field goal percentage night for the season for SFA.
The loss snaps SFA's 13-game winning streak and knocked the Lumberjacks from the ranks of the unbeaten in conference play. SFA returns to action Saturday night in Lake Charles, La. as they take on McNeese State at 7:45 p.m.
