BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) - Percy Green had 26 points on 13-of-15 shooting to lead Stephen F. Austin to a 77-73 victory against Lamar on Thursday night.
Stephen F. Austin (17-5, 13-2 Southland) took the lead for good with 7:55 left in the first half when Ben Hunt hit a 3-pointer to make it 17-14.
Antonio Burks had 10 points for Stephen F. Austin, which shot 62 percent for the game and led 36-31 at halftime. SFA got off to a sluggish start, connecting on only 1 of its first 9 shot attempts and falling behind by a 12-6 margin. F Antonio Burks hit a three pointer with 13:28 remaining in the first half for SFA's first field goal of the game, cutting the Lamar lead to 7-6.
From that point forward, SFA hit 23 of its next 29 shots in becoming the first team this season to shoot more than 50 percent from the field against the Cardinals.
The win in the Montagne Center was the first for the Lumberjacks since Lamar re-joined the Southland Conference six years ago.
Ron Austin had 27 points to lead Lamar (11-12, 8-8).
Damany Hendrix had 19 points on 4-of-11 shooting, and Eddie Robinson added 15 for Lamar, which shot 50 percent for the game.
