NATCHITOCHES, La. (AP) - Stevin Ozier scored 19 points, hitting 10-of-10 free throws, to lead Stephen F. Austin to a 71-59 victory over Northwestern State on Saturday.
Percy Green and Marcus Clark each added 14 points for Stephen F. Austin (14-3, 10-0 Southland Conference), which shot just over 52 percent in the second half after trailing 30-26 at halftime.
Jermaine Wallace led Northwestern State (3-14, 3-7) with 18 points, but he shot only 8-of-22 from the field and missed all five 3-pointers he attempted. Byron Allen and Clifton Lee each scored 14 for the Demons, who shot only 36.4 percent from the field for the game, including 1-of-11 from 3-point range.
The Lumberjacks went 22-22 at the free throw line in the second half of play as they used the free throws to help build their lead. SFA went to a press early in the second half that helped spark the Lumberjack run, forcing several Northwestern State turnovers. SFA committed 12 turnovers in the first half of play, but limited that number to only three in the second half.
The 'Jacks play the second game of a three game road swing Wednesday night in Arlington as they take on UT-Arlington in a 7:05 p.m. start.
