
Ladyjacks Fall to Northwestern State

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team fell to Northwestern State, 94-74, Saturday afternoon at the Prather Coliseum. The Ladyjacks are now 8-9 overall and 8-2 in the Southland Conference.
Northwestern State jumped out to a 4-0 lead on consecutive baskets by Anna Means. SFA got on the scoreboard on a layup by freshman LaToya Mills (Houston, Texas) at the 18:13 mark of the first half. The Lady Demons followed the SFA basket with a 10-0 run to push the lead to 12-2, sparked by La'Terrica Dobin's 16 first-half points.
The Ladyjacks trailed by as many as 21 points in the first half before cutting the lead to nine points, 39-30, with 4:19 remaining in the half but the Lady Demons pushed the lead back to 14, 48-34, heading into the halftime.
The Ladyjacks cut the lead back to nine points in the second half but could get no closer, as Dobin finished the game with 25 points.
The Ladyjacks were led by senior Yolanda Grant (Flatonia, Texas) who scored a career-high 16 points and pulled down a team-high six rebounds. Freshman Britany Vinson (Prattville, Ala.) added 12 points and three assists.
The Ladyjacks return to action Thursday Feb. 6th at Arlington, Texas. The Ladyjacks are slated to tipoff at 7:05 p.m., from Texas Hall.
