Ladyjacks Victorious in Four

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack volleyball team continued their winning ways Friday night defeating league-leading Texas State, 3-1 (30-22, 30-24, 22-30, 30-24). The Ladyjacks have now won 10 of their last 11 matches and are now 16-12 overall and 12-5 in the Southland Conference.
The Ladyjacks busted out of the gates taking a big lead in the first game. Junior Brittany Burton led the way with her 14 kills and 14 digs. SFA won the first game, 30-22. The Ladyjacks held the momentum in game two winning, 30-24. Junior Deborah Kirkham and sophomore Amelia Mayeaux recorded 12 kills as the Ladyjacks went into the locker room up 2-0.
Texas State rallied in game three winning, 30-22. TSUs Lizzie Nwoke recorded a match-high 21 kills (.304 attack percentage) and Kelly Fletcher added 13 but it wasn't enough as the Ladyjacks won game four, 30-24.
Sophomore Lauren Stevens added 10 kills in the victorious effort while freshman Stephanie Figgers recorded a match-high 16 digs.
The Ladyjacks will close out the home portion of their schedule Saturday with a 4 p.m., match against the Roadrunners. Senior Melissa Bullion will be honored prior to the match.
