
SFA Volleyball Lands Three on All-SLC Team

PLANO, Texas - Juniors Brittany Burton and Deborah Kirkham and freshman Stephanie Figgers were named to the 2003 All-Southland Conference team announced league officials Wednesday afternoon.
Burton was named to All-SLC first team. She led the Ladyjacks in kills (442), attack percentage (.285), blocks (125) and points (540). She finished the regular season among the league leaders in kills, blocks and points, setting a new career-high in each category. Burton is currently among the school's all-time leaders in block solos, block assists and total blocks and is also on pace to record 1,000 career kills.
Kirkham earned honorable mention All-Southland Conference honors. She finished fourth on the team in points and kills and was second on the squad with 2.83 digs per game. Kirkham is on pace to become only the 10th Ladyjack to ever record 1,000 career digs.
Figgers earned honorable mention all-conference honors after a stellar freshman campaign. She stepped into a starting role at the libero position and has never looked back. She has recorded four of the school's all-time top-10 single-match performances in digs, including a school-record 39. She finished second in the Southland Conference with 4.08 digs per game. Her 481 digs is the fourth-best single season mark in school history.
The Ladyjacks return to action Saturday in the semifinals of the Southland Conference Championships. The Ladyjacks will face the winner of the No. 3 Texas-Arlington/No. 6 Nicholls State match. The Ladyjacks semifinal match will begin at 4:30 p.m., from the Convocation Center in San Antonio, Texas.
