NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack volleyball team signed Jami Hill (Bonham, Texas), Jennifer Jones (Allen, Texas) and Traci Rohde (Norman, Okla.) to National Letters of Intent announced SFA head coach Debbie Humphreys Thursday afternoon.
Hill is a versatile athlete that has earned first-team all-state honors in volleyball. She makes her way to Nacogdoches by way of Bonham High School. She is a two-time district MVP that was also named newcomer of the year. Hill also excels in the classroom where she is a member of the National Honor Society.
"Jami is a multi-sport athlete," said SFA head coach Debbie Humphreys. "She has never focused totally on volleyball. She has tremendous skills and athletic ability. Being the daughter of two coaches, she has developed a tremendous work ethic. She will improve quickly in an (NCAA) Division I volleyball environment where she is playing and training year round. Jami has great pursuit, which will allow her to develop into an excellent defensive player. She has all of the tools necessary to develop into one of the top all-around players in the SLC."
Jones is a 5-10 setter that comes to SFA from a successful high school program. Jones is a three-time first-team all-district selection that has earned district honors and twice been named the top setter in District 9-5A. She has also been named to the Dallas Morning News All-Area team. The past two seasons Jones has led her prep team to the regional semifinals. Jones has also twice been named the team MVP on the Skyline Junior National team.
"JJ is a proven winner and a true leader," said Humphreys. "Not only is she a tremendous talent as a setter and a hitter, but she also possesses all of the intangible qualities that a team needs. She is a fighter and a true competitor. I'm really looking forward to having the opportunity to work with her."
Rohde is a 6-2 middle blocker that will add immediate size to the Ladyjacks roster. She is a four-time all-state selection at Community Christian High School. She is a four-time All-Tri-State Christian Conference and Oklahoma City Christian Conference selection. She is a conference MVP that has earned all-state super six and player to watch honors from the Daily Oklahoman. Rohde brings four years of national club team experience to the Ladyjacks' roster. She is also an academic standout being named to the academic honor roll and ranked No. 1 in her graduating class.
"Traci is a tremendous athlete with good size," added Humphreys. "She is a solid player with tons of potential. She will improve by leaps and bounds during her first year of college when she is surrounded by quality players who will challenge her every day. I have no doubt that she will rise to the challenge and quickly develop into one of the top middle blockers in the SLC."
