NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team is 8-8 (.500) overall and 8-1 (.889) in the Southland Conference after beating Texas-Arlington in a thriller, 57-56. The Ladyjacks will be in Natchitoches, La., Saturday to take on preseason league favorite Northwestern State. The game is slated to tipoff at 2 p.m., from Prather Coliseum. The game against the Lady Demons kicks off a three-game conference road trip that will include stops at Texas-Arlington and McNeese State.
SFA vs. the Lady Demons: The Ladyjacks are 41-12 (.774) all-time against Northwestern State. SFA won two of the three meetings between the two teams last season including a 76-52 decision in the SLC Championship game. The Ladyjacks have now won the last two consecutive games, three of the last four and nine of the last 11 in the series.
Tradition of Winning: The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball program has been one of the most dominant in women's basketball history. The Ladyjacks are among the nation's all-time top 10 with 722 wins. The Ladyjacks are also among the all-time top 10 with a .754 winning percentage (722-236).
Tradition of Winning in the SLC: As dominant as the Ladyjacks have been nationally, they have been just as dominant in the Southland Conference. The Ladyjacks have been the conference's most dominant team, compiling a 242-21 (.920) all-time record. SFA has won 14 of a possible 15 SLC tournament titles and 13 regular-season championships. The Ladyjacks have also recorded four undefeated seasons in league play and have had 33 players named All-SLC.
Looking Ahead ... The Ladyjacks will continue their trek through the Southland Conference Thursday, Feb. 6th against Texas-Arlington. The game is slated to tipoff at 7:05 p.m., from Texas Hall. SFA will then be in Lake Charles, La., two nights later to take on McNeese State. The game is slated to get underway at 5:30 p.m., from Burton Coliseum.
