
Ladyjacks to Face Sam Houston State

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team looks to get back to the .500 mark tonight when then take on Sam Houston State. The Ladyjacks are riding a season-high six-game win streak and are 6-7 (.462) overall on the season. SFA currently sits atop the Southland Conference standings with a perfect 6-0 record.
SFA vs. the Bearkats: The Ladyjacks lead the all-time series with Sam Houston State, 51-2 (.962). SFA has won the last six consecutive games and 37 of the last 38 between the two teams with the lone SFA setback over that stretch coming during the 1998-99 season. The last time the two teams met, SFA defeated SHSU, 83-70, in Huntsville, Texas last season.
Home Sweet Home: The Ladyjacks are one of the all-time winningest teams at home, with an all-time record of 311-72 (.812), including a perfect 13-0 record last season. The Ladyjacks have now won 45 of their last 48 games in the William R. Johnson Coliseum. The last time SFA lost a home game in Southland Conference play was an 88-77 setback to Sam Houston State during the 1998-99 season. The Ladyjacks are 3-1 (.750) this season at home.
Career-High: Freshman LaToya Mills (Houston, Texas) had a career night against Lamar. The rookie forward set career-highs in points (18) and rebounds (12) in 26 minutes against the Cardinals. Mills was 9-of-16 (.563) from the floor. Mills came close to a double-double by halftime as she led the Ladyjacks with 14 points and nine rebounds heading into the intermission. It was Mills' second double-double of the season.
More on Career-Highs: LaToya Mills wasn't the only Ladyjack putting up big numbers Thursday night. Freshman Kendria Smith (Shreveport, La.) had a solid outing scoring seven points, pulling down a career-high six rebounds and a career-high five blocks. The five blocks ties Smith for the fifth-best day in school history.
