Danny Kaspar chalked up career win number 250 this past Saturday night with the 'Jacks 58-55 win over Southeastern Louisiana, in Hammond.
The win moved the Lumberjacks to 9-3 overall this season, and kept SFA perfect at 5-0 in Southland Conference play. SFA is the only team in the Southland Conference without a loss, and is one game up on both Sam Houston and UT-Arlington in the loss column in the conference standings.
Kaspar joined the Lumberjack program prior to the 2000-01 season after posting a 241-84 record at Incarnate Word, a Division II school in San Antonio. The former Lumberjack assistant coach posted a 9-17, 6-14 record in his first season with the 'Jacks, then led SFA to a 13-15, 10-10 mark last year in his second season. The Lumberjacks qualified for the Southland Conference postseason tournament following the 2001-02 season for the first time since the 1996-97 season, as the number five seed, losing to Lamar in the first round. In his two plus years with the Lumberjacks, Kaspar has posted a 31-35 reord.
This year, the 'Jacks have started strong, posting the 9-3 overall record and the quick 5-0 start in SLC play. The current eight game winning streak by the Lumberjacks is the longest such streak since the 'Jacks won 12 straight to close out the 1986-87 season.
SFA hosts Lamar Thursday night at 8:15 in the coliseum.
