STILLWATER, Okla. - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team dropped its third consecutive game to start the 2002 season, falling to Oklahoma State, 4-0, Sunday afternoon.
Oklahoma State's Cassie Lewis put the Cowgirls up, 1-0, with her goal in the sixth minute of the game and OSU never looked back. The Cowgirls solid defense allowed only five SFA shots throughout the contest. OSU added one more goal 5:02 later to go into the halftime up, 2-0.
It was more of the same in the second half as the Cowgirls scored their third goal 16 seconds into the second half. OSU closed out the scoring when Jolene Schweitzer scored her second goal of the game on a pass from Krista Dedmon and Courtney Robb.
"I'm disappointed with the way we played today," said SFA head coach Nicole Nelson. "This team wasn't as strong as the other two teams we have faced. Every goal was a result of our mistakes. So we have some adjustments to make but we are going to make them and move forward."
The Ladyjacks return to action Friday, Sept. 13, at Tennessee-Martin. The game is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
