
Ladyjacks Outlast Southwest Texas

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack volleyball team outlasted Southwest Texas Tuesday in a thriller, 3-2 (23-30, 31-29, 28-30, 30-20, 15-12). The Ladyjacks improve to 8-6 overall and 3-1 in the Southland Conference.
After dropping game one, 30-23, SFA fought right back to win game two 31-29. Senior Angie Wood (Houston, Texas) sparked the Ladyjack charge with her 21 kills, but Southwest Texas didn't go away, winning game three, 30-28, behind Tiffany Weidner 's 20 kills.
The Ladyjacks showed poise in the fourth game defeating SWT, 30-20. Senior Jennifer Wilson (Friendswood, Texas) connected for 18 kills in the match. She also recorded 13 digs and seven blocks to help force a fifth game. SFA put Southwest Texas away on the strength of sophomore Joanna Benestante's (Houston, Texas) 13 kills and classmate Brittany Burton's (Livingston, Texas) 11 kills. Senior Sunni Williams (Houston, Texas) led all players with her 63 assists.
The Ladyjacks return to action Friday to take on McNeese State. The match is slated to begin at 7 p.m., from the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
