Monroe, La. - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack volleyball team jumped above .500 in Southland Conference play for the first time this season, with their 3-0 (30-16, 30-23, 30-24) victory over Louisiana-Monroe Saturday afternoon. The Ladyjacks are now 7-6 overall and 2-1 in league play.
The Ladyjacks jumped out to an early lead with the easy 30-16 victory in game number one behind senior Angie Wood's (Houston, Texas) 13 kills on 22 attempts. Classmate Jennifer Wilson (Friendswood, Texas) added 19 kills (.643 attack percentage). The SFA attack was too much for ULM as the Ladyjacks recorded a .412 attack percentage.
The Indians never found an answer against SFA, hitting only .173 for the match. ULM didn't have a player record double-figure kills against the Ladyjacks.
"We played pretty good today," said SFA head coach Debbie Humphreys. "Anytime you can come on the road and pick up two victories you have to feel good about that. We're heading home with 2-1 league mark and ready to get after it next week."
The Ladyjacks will look to extend their win streak Tuesday night when Southwest Texas comes calling. The match against the Bobcats is slated to begin at 7 p.m., from the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
