Ladyjacks Outlast Northwestern State Jennifer Wilson leads the way with 19 kills
NATCHITOCHES, La. - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack volleyball team got back in the win column Friday night with their 3-1 (30-21, 26-30, 30-24, 30-23) victory over Northwestern State. The Ladyjacks improve to 6-6 overall and 1-1 in the Southland Conference.
Senior Jennifer Wilson (Friendswood, Texas) helped give the Ladyjacks a 1-0 lead with her team-high 19 kills and 15 digs. But the Demons fought right back in game two to tie the match at 1. Northwestern State was led by Christina Stone's 23 kills and 12 digs.
The Ladyjacks seemed to re-gain momentum in game number three as senior Angie Wood (Houston, Texas) and junior Julie Goodson (Alvin, Texas) connected for 10 kills each. The Ladyjacks carried that momentum over to game four where their defense took control of the match. SFA held the Demons to only a .198 attack percentage, while recording 16 total blocks on the night.
The Ladyjacks return to the court tomorrow afternoon against Louisiana-Monroe. The match is slated to begin at 2 p.m., in Monroe, La.
