
Southland Conference Releases Soccer Poll

PLANO, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team was picked to finish fourth in the Southland Conference by the league coaches, and fifth by league sports information directors, announced the SLC Wednesday afternoon.
Southwest Texas was the preseason pick for league champion with five first-place votes and 35 points. Southeastern Louisiana was picked second with the other two first-place votes and 31points. SFA received 17 points and was picked right behind Northwestern State (26 points).
In a poll of the league sports information directors, the Ladyjacks received 24 points and were picked to finish fifth. The Bobcats were picked to win the SLC title, receiving six first-place votes and 48 points. SWT was followed by Southeastern Louisiana, who received 41 points and the other first-place vote.
The Ladyjacks kick-off the 2002 season Saturday, Aug. 31 against Louisiana State. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., from Homer Bryce Stadium.
