NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team added three players to its roster, as incoming freshman Natascia Michalezki (Calgary, Alberta), Tayah Schroter-Gillespie (Calgary, Alberta) and junior college transfer Michelle LaPointe (Saskatoon, Sask.) have signed National Letters of Intent with SFA announced head coach Nicole Nelson Tuesday.
"We feel very fortunate to have signed such quality players to our program," said Nelson. "These girls will have an immediate impact on our program. Natascia and Tayah come in as freshman while Michelle will enter as a junior. The greatest thing the Canadians bring to the program is their hunger and passion for the game. They have a great attitude and good work rate and come from sound training programs."
LaPointe, a 5-6 forward, is the lone junior in the 2002 recruiting class. She has played club soccer since 1990 and was a four-time selection to a Canadian all-star team.
Michalezki is a 5-9 goalkeeper that the Ladyjacks believe can come in and push for playing time in her first season. Michalezki will be battling returnees Heather Matchette, Jillian Hazel and incoming freshman Cassie Sneed for playing time as the Ladyjacks keeper.
Schroter-Gillespie is a 5-5 midfielder who possess great speed. She guided her U-17 Alberta provincial team to the national championships and was selected as her high school team's MVP every season.
