
Sophomore Nathan Flores Claims Second Title

ARLINGTON, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack men stayed within striking distance of the SLC team title as they finished the second day of competition at the SLC Outdoor Championships trailing only Northwestern State, 58-41. The SFA women's team completed Saturday's events in seventh place with 14 points. Texas-Arlington heads into the final day of competition with a 55-40 lead over Sam Houston State.
Sophomore Nathan Flores (Kingwood, Texas) has been a major factor for the Lumberjacks remaining in the hunt for the league title. Flores won his second title in as many days when recorded a time of 9:07.23 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, missing his own school record by less than second.
On the women's side, senior Destine Rawls (Houston, Texas) finished second in the women's shot put with her throw of 49-3.00. Texas-Arlington's Ashley Dorsey won the event her mark of 53-10.25.
The SLC Outdoor Championships final day of competition will be Sunday in Arlington, Texas. The field events are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., with the men's pole vault. The running events will get underway at 4:05 p.m., with the women's 4X100-meter relay finals.
