Ladyjack Soccer Signs Six

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team signed Lauren Cummings (Kingwood, Texas), Kim Gray (Spring, Texas), Sarah Hernandez (Tyler, Texas), Jaime Ronca (Spring, Texas), Cassie Sneed (Mansfield, Texas) and Amber Wilson (Lewisville, Texas) to National Letters of Intent announced first-year head coach Nicole Nelson Wednesday.
"I am very excited about the class that we are signing," said Nelson. "We are fortunate to have quality girls coming into our program. These girls bring a lot of talent and team chemistry to SFA. I know they are going to be a fit, not only for our university but for the team as well. I am really looking forward to next season."
Cummings is a five-foot, six-inch midfielder, who led Kingwood High School in scoring as a freshman and a sophomore. She earned all-district honors as a senior while leading her club to the regional quarterfinals. Cummings has been a member of the Challenge Club team and has helped guide those teams to four state titles.
Gray is a 5-6 sweeper with a wealth of championship club experience. Gray is one of three Ladyjack signees to play for the Challenge Club team. During her time with the Challenge, she helped the team win three state titles and one regional championship. While at Klein High School, Gray was named the team's defensive MVP.
Hernandez led her high school squad in goals and assists as a sophomore and junior, scoring 45 goals and dishing out 30 assists in those two seasons. She was named first-team all-district her sophomore year. As a junior, she was named district co-MVP and was named offensive MVP of the Woodlands Tournament. She also was a member of the Texans Club team.
Ronca, a 5-5 defender, was named her prep team's most valuable defensive player. Ronca is also a success in the classroom as a member of the National Honor Society. Ronca also played with the Challenge Club during their run to four state titles.
Sneed is a 5-5 goalkeeper who helped lead her club team to the 2001 state cup title. She also was a key member of the Sting Club that was a semifinalist at the 2001 Surf Cup and a finalist at the 2001 Fila Cup. While at Mansfield High School, she was a three-time all-district selection and was named to the Arlington Star Telegram first-team and the Arlington Morning News first-team. She posted 38 career shutouts during her high school career and led Mansfield to a 20-3 (.870 winning percentage) record and a trip to the Class 5A regional finals.
Wilson was a four-year starter at Lewisville High School. During her career, she tallied 16 goals and 35 assists. She was a three-time all-district selection who guided her prep squad to a regional final appearance and a state semifinal appearance. Wilson also was a member of the Texans Club team.
