NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- The Lumberjacks couldn't find a way to stop Centenary guard Andrew Wisniewski Tuesday night, as Wisniewski poured in 35 points to lead the Centenary Gents (3-3) to a 75-69 win over the Lumberjacks (1-2). Wisniewski sparked a 20-9 run to close out the final seven minutes of the first half as he finished the first half with 24 points.
The Gents shot a torrid pace from beyond the three point arc, connecting on 10 of 20 three point attempts in the game. Wisniewski was five of nine from beyond the stripe. SFA meanwhile couldn't seem to find the range from outside hitting only four of 13 three point attempts in the game. Overall, Centenary shot an even 50 percent (24-48) from the field while the Lumberjacks also shot a good percentage, finishing the night hitting 23 of 48 from the field (.479).
SFA beat the Gents on the glass, outrebounding the visitors by a 28-25 total. SFA outscored Centenary 18-7 on second chance points in the game. The Gents forced SFA into 17 turnovers, scoring 29 points off those miscues. The 'Jacks picked up 16 Centenary turnovers but managed only 11 points off turnovers.
Dedrick Sanders led the Lumberjacks with 13 points, while Ben Hunt and Antonio Burks added 10 points each. None of the Lumberjacks starting five ended the night with more than eight points. Percy Green and Jasen Gast had eight points each to pace the starters.
The Lumberjacks return to action Saturday night as they travel to Houston to take on Texas Southern. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. from the Texas Southern campus.
