
'Jacks Hand ORU First Loss of Season, 71-68

The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks (2-3) came out tough early in the first half and gave Oral Roberts (6-1) all they wanted, taking a 71-68 win over the Golden Eagles Saturday night in Nacogdoches. The loss was the first of the season for ORU.
Oral Roberts jumped out to an early lead before the Lumberjacks took the lead at the 13:36 mark of the first half on a jumper and free throw from Dedrick Sanders. The 'Jacks never trailed from that point taking a seven point lead in at the half, 32-25.
The Lumberjacks came out in the second half and built the lead to 12 points early in the second half only to see Oral Roberts go an a 9-0 run to cut the lead to only one at 43-42 with 13:17 remaining in the contest.
The 'Jacks quickly built the lead back to as many as eight points and held on down the stretch making seven of 10 free throws in the final minute of play.
B.J. Banks led SFA with 15 points in his first start of the season, with Jasen Gast adding 14 and Stevin Ozier adding 12 for the Lumberjacks. SFA was only 23-58 (.397) from the field, but was 21-28 at the free throw line.
