
Ladyjack Honored by Southland Conference

PLANO, Texas - Senior setter Sunni Williams (Houston, Texas) was named 2002 Southland Conference Volleyball Student-Athlete of the Year announced league officials Wednesday.
The award is given to student-athlete's that have achieved superior accomplishments on the court, in the classroom and in the community. Williams is a Dean's List and President's List student that is a member of the 2001 Academic All-SLC team. During her time at SFA, the Ladyjacks have received three AVCA/Molten Team Academic awards.
Williams is currently fifth in the Southland Conference with 11.21 assists per game. Earlier this season she became only the sixth Ladyjack to record 1,000 assists in a career. Her 1,446 assists this season ranks as the sixth best season in school history. Williams guided the Ladyjacks to a 21-11 overall record and the No. 3 seed in the SLC tournament.
The Ladyjacks open up the conference tournament Friday against sixth-seeded Southeastern Louisiana. The match is slated to begin at 7 p.m., from the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
