
DIxon Earns SLC Player of the Week Honors

Southland Conference Players of the Week Nov. 17Offense Zeke Dixon, Stephen F. Austin, QB, 6-2, 210, Fr., Westlake, La. Dixon threw for a career high 282 yards, completing 15-of-23 passes for one touchdown. He also threw one interception on a "Hail Mary" on the last play of the first half. Dixon also added one rushing touchdown on a 3-yard score to put SFA ahead 27-21 early in the fourth quarter as the Lumberjacks went on to a 30-21 win at Southwest Texas State.
Defense Rod Gulley, McNeese State, FS, 6-2, 190, Jr., Newton, Texas Gulley had nine tackles, two pass interceptions which he returned for 35 yards, and two pass breakups as McNeese held Northwestern State to 34 yards rushing and 130 passing. The Cowboys took a 27-3 win at Northwestern to clinch the Southland Conference regular-season championship and automatic bid to the NCAA I-AA playoffs.
Special Teams Marcus Trahan, McNeese State, TB, 5-9, 192, Sr., Sulphur, La. In his first duty this season running kickoffs back for McNeese, Trahan returned three for 115 yards. His long was 63 yards and that set up a McNeese touchdown. His returns enabled McNeese to take over as the nation's No. 1 ranked I-AA team in kickoff return average.
