NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- Stephen F. Austin athletic department officials announced today that James Dixon, assistant sports information director, will handle the play-by-play duties for Ladyjack basketball. Ladyjack basketball will once again be heard throughout the east Texas area on KTBQ-FM (107.7), and can also be heard on the world wide web via the SFA athletic website, sfajacks.com.
"It has been our desire for several years to bring the broadcast of the women's basketball games back in-house. When James Dixon joined our staff last year, the plan was to have him take over those duties in the future. With cooperation from the management of ClearChannel Radio, the owners of the radio station, we have been able to move forward with those plans," said Robert Hill, associate athletic director at the university.
All broadcasts of both Lumberjack football and basketball have been handled by SFA personnel for several years. With Dixon taking over as the play-by-play voice of the program, all university athletic broadcasts will now be produced within the department.
Dixon came to SFA in July, 2001 after having spent several years at the Northern Arizona University . The 1996 graduate of NAU handled broadcast duties for both the men's and women's basketball teams, as well as, several high school football broadcasts. Since his arrival at SFA he has also filled in for Hill on men's basketball broadcasts.
The Ladyjacks open the season on November 23 against the University of Arkansas.
