NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team will take a break from Southland Conference action Tuesday night as Centenary comes to town. The game against the Ladies is slated for a 7 p.m., start from Homer Bryce Stadium. The Ladyjacks are 4-6-0 (.400) overall and 2-1-0 (.667) in the Southland Conference.
Heatin' Up: The Ladyjack offense is starting to heat up and it couldn't come at a better time. Since the Ladyjacks stepped into SLC play, they have been racking up numbers offensively. The Ladyjacks are averaging 3.3 goals per game in their three league contest, compared to 0.7 goals per game during the non-conference part of the season. SFA is also averaging 27.7 shots per game, which is a significant increase from the 6.4 shots per game they were averaging during the non-conference portion of the season.
In the Polls: Freshman goalkeeper Natascia Michalezki (Calgary, Alberta) continues to impress Ladyjack fans while at the same time frustrating opponents. Michalezki is currently seventh in the nation with her 8.90 goals per game. Michalezki has 89 saves this season, which already places her third on the school's all-time saves list. She also posted the first shutout of her career in the 4-0 win over McNeese State. She followed that up two matches later with a 6-0 victory over Louisiana-Monroe.
Up Next: The Ladyjacks hit the road for three straight road games beginning Sunday Oct. 2, when they travel to San Marcos, Texas, for a 1 p.m., game against Southwest Texas. SFA will then travel to Hammond, La., for a match against Southeastern Louisiana. The match against the Lady Lions is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m., on Friday Oct. 11th. SFA will be in Thibodaux, La., two days later to take on Nicholls State. The match against the Colonels is set to begin at 1 p.m.
