Ladyjacks Outlast Late Charge by Louisiana-Monroe Senior Latisha Prater leads the way with 14 points and 13 rebounds
MONROE, La. - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team extended its win streak to six consecutive, and five-straight in the Southland Conference, as it held off a late rally from Louisiana-Monroe to beat the Lady Indians, 66-60, Saturday night at Ewing Coliseum.
The Ladyjacks seemed in control throughout the majority of the game as it held a 20-point lead three time in the second half. SFA led by 17 points with only 7 minutes and 4 seconds remaining, when the Lady Indians went on a 13-2 run over the next 4:21, sparked by Danielle Butler's 18 points and the Ladyjacks' 14 second-half turnovers, to cut the SFA lead to six points. But the Lady Indians were just as careless with the basketball, turning it over 26 times, which eventually led to their demise.
The Ladyjacks were paced by senior Latisha Prater's (Cotton Port, La.) 14 points and 13 rebounds. It is Prater's third double-double of the season and fifth of her career. Classmate Chaquita Dilworth (Temple, Texas) chimed in with nine points and 10 rebounds.
SFA returns to action Monday at Northwestern State. The game is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m., from Prather Coliseum in Natchitoches, La.
