Stephen F. Austin safety David Crocker has been named an honorable mention All-American by Don Hansen's Football Gazette. The Killeen, Texas sophomore led the Lumberjacks in total tackles this past season with 112 tackles, inclduding 59 solo stops. Crocker became the first Lumberjack since current All-Pro Jeremiah Trotter to surpass the 100+ tackle total in a single season. Trotter recorded back-to-back 100+ tackle seasons as both a sophomore and junior before leaving school early for the NFL draft.
This season, Crocker chalked up the 112 tackles in spite of playing only ten games for the 'Jacks. Crocker was injured early in the second quarfter of the season opener, missing the second half of that game, plus sat out the following week against Northern Arizona.
Crocker led the Southland Football League in tackles per game, averaging 11.2 tackles per game for the season. He also recorded two interceptions and two fumble recoveries on the year.
In the season finale against Northwestern State, Crocker was credited with an amazing 27 tackles in the game, the most by a Lumberjack in a single game since Perry Eliano racked up 22 stops against Troy State in 1999.
