The 'Jacks shrugged off a sluggish start Thursday night before cruising to a 72-56 win over Nicholls State before 1,872 fans in the coliseum. The win evens SFA's overall record at 9-9 on the year and moves the 'Jacks to 6-5 in SLC play. The Colonels fall to 1-18 on the year and 0-12 in league play.
F Ransom White led the way for the Lumberjacks with his third double-double of the year. White finished the night with 12-points and 13-rebounds, leading the 'Jacks in both categories. Ronnie Price led the Colonels with 22 points, while Dominique Geason led the Nicholls State team with nine rebounds.
The Colonels took a lead about five minutes into the game and held the lead until the 'Jacks mounted a 16-0 run over the final 6:17 of the first half to take a 36-23 lead into halftime. The Colonels never got any closer than the 13-point halftime margin throughout the second half while the 'Jacks extended their lead to as manay as 22-points before Danny Kaspar began clearing his bench. All 14 members of the Lumberjack squad saw at least three minutes of action.
Freshman Taylor Moore had a career high 11-points, his first double digit scoring night as a collegiate player. Ben Hunt also added 11-points for the 'Jacks, all coming in the first half of play.
The 'Jacks return to the coliseum Saturday evening as they play host to the Lions of Southeastern Louisiana.
