Ladyjacks Earn League Academic Honors

PLANO, Texas - Five Ladyjack volleyball players and one soccer player were named to the 2001 Southland Conference All-Academic team announced by the league office Wednesday.
Senior setter Marissa Dorcheus (Houston, Texas) and junior outside hitter Angie Wood (Houston, Texas) earned first-team honors while senior middle blocker Kristy Rhodes (Cypress, Texas) was named to the second-team. Junior setter Sunni Williams (Houston, Texas) and sophomore outside hitter Kelly Gorychka (Austin, Texas) were selected to the third-team.
The Ladyjack volleyball team finished the season with a 23-8 record and were second in the Southland Conference.
The Ladyjack soccer team was represented by junior forward Season Settle (Jacksonville, Texas). Settle was a second-team honoree.
The Ladyjack soccer team finished the season with 10-8-1 overall record. SFA advanced to the Southland Conference tournament before bowing out to regular-season champion Southwest Texas.
The Southland Conference All-Academic team consists of players with at least a 3.0 grade-point average. The honorees must also be either starters or important reserves.
