NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- Stephen F. Austin athletic director Steve McCarty announced today that barring any unforeseen circumstances, all regularly scheduled games will take place Saturday.
"At this time, we plan to go forward with our regularly scheduled contests Saturday. While the thoughts and prayers of everyone associated with Stephen F. Austin and Stephen F. Austin athletics are with the families of the victims of this week's tragic events, we will begin the process of returning to normalcy as quickly as possible," said McCarty.
The Lumberjack football team is scheduled to play host to the University of Northern Iowa Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. at Homer Bryce Stadium. UNI officials have indicated this week that they have made tentative plans to bus to Nacogdoches should that become necessary in order to play the game. Original plans for Northern Iowa call for the team to take a charter aircraft to Gregg County airport early Saturday morning, then bus to Nacogdoches. The university still hopes to use the original plan, however, if current air travel restrictions are not lifted, the team will bus to Nacogdoches for Saturday night's game.
