'Jacks Drop Season Opener, 16-13

The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks dropped a heartbreaker, 16-13 to the Vikings of Portland State Saturday night, before 5,283 fans at Homer Bryce Stadium.
SFA held a 13-10 lead going into the fourth quarter, only to see Portland State kick two field goals in the fourth quarter to take the win.
Mike Cajal-Willis was three for three on the night on field goal attempts, connecting on field goals of 42, 46 and 46 yards. He hit the game winner with 4:13 remaining in the fourth quarter.
The 'Jacks forced a PSU punt with less than two minutes remaining to get one last shot at winning the game, but came ujp just short as time ran out after QB Wes Pate hit Paul Todd for a completion at the four yard line. The 'jacks were out of time outs and could not stop the clok before time ran out.
SFA returns to action next week as they travel to Flagstaff, Arizona to take on Northern Arizona.
