NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack head football coach Mike Santiago said Tuesday that he was very pleased with the twenty-one football freshmen and transfer student-athletes, after they completed their first full day of workouts on the SFA campus.
"I am very happy with this class. It appears right now that we have a freshman class with a great deal of athleticism and I am pleased with the way that most of them have come into their first collegiate camp ready to play," said Santiago.
The `Jacks worked out for roughly one hour Tuesday morning, and held another brief workout Tuesday afternoon with the freshman and transfer athletes in preparation for workouts with the remainder of the team on Friday.
The newcomers will go through orientation with the athletic department staff on Wednesday, with returners reporting Thursday and the first full day of practice set to get underway at 6:00 a.m. Friday.
Media Day activities will take place Thursday afternoon with members of the team taking a photo and meeting with members of the media from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. at Homer Bryce Stadium.
