Nacogdoches - Brandi Daily was named restricted coach of the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team announced SFA first-year head coach Lee Ann Riley Wednesday.
Daily was a three-year player at Arkansas under former SFA head coach Gary Blair. During her three years in Fayetteville, she helped lead the Razorbacks to consecutive Women's National Invitational Tournament Final Four appearances including the 1999 Women's NIT championship squad. As a sophomore, she was a member of the 1998 NCAA Final Four team. Daily has a good understanding of what Riley looks for in a basketball team, having been captain of Riley's 1996-97 Tyler Junior College squad.
"It's been a blessing having Brandi here," said head coach Lee Ann Riley. "We've felt like we were missing an arm because the staff wasn't complete, but it has made things so much easier with her on staff. She brings a lot of intensity and enthusiasm to our program. She has the ability to relate well with the college player having been one herself only a year ago. Having coached Brandi at Tyler Junior College, I know what she is made of, and she is a winner. I'm ecstatic to her on our team."
The Ladyjacks kickoff the 2001-02 season Friday, Nov. 9, at Miami, Fla., in the first round of the Preseason Women's NIT.
