'Jacks Basketball Recruiting Class Tops In Southland

Stephen F. Austin head basketball coach Danny Kaspar's 2001 recruiting class has been ranked as the best among the Southland Conference by an internet college basketball site. Hoopscoop online.com ranks the Lumberjacks' class as the best recruiting class among the 11 Southland Conference member schools. The site also rates the `Jacks spring signing class among the top 130 in the nation.
The Louisville, Kentucky based site assigns point values to prospects based on comparable talent levels. Only UT-San Antonio and SFA were ranked among the top 130 in the nation according to the service.
Among Southland schools, SFA and UT-San Antonio tied with 11 points each according to the service. The `Jacks have signed five student-athletes to letters of intent to play basketball and further their education at the university next year. Included among those five are Ben Hunt, a 6-1 guard from Australia, Percy Green, a 6-7 forward from Garden City CC in Kansas, Taylor Moore, a 6-8 forward from Fort Worth Poly Technic HS, Tim Simon, a 6-0 point guard from Klein Forest HS, and Rashad Wright, a 6-4 forward from Blinn Junior College.
