
Football To Open Spring Workouts Monday

Stephen F. Austin head football coach Mike Santiago will send his team throught the first workout of the spring Monday afternoon, starting at 3:00 p.m. The Lumberjacks will hold non-contact workouts Monday and Tuesday with the first full-contact practice set for Thursday afternoon.
"I think that the players are excited about starting spring practice. We have a lot of things to work on during these fifteen workouts, but I really feel good heading into this spring," said Santiago.
Not only will coaches get to look at some different players during spring ball, but two new additions to the Lumberjack coaching staff will also get their first looks as well. New defensive coordinator Kim Dameron will begin the process of installing his defense for the 'Jacks, and defensive line coach Kenny Washington will also hit the field as a member of the Lumberjacks' staff for the first time.
There are three scrimmages planned for spring practice, the first two taking place on Friday nights. The first scrimmage will be held Friday, March 30, with the second scrimmage being held Friday, April 6. Both scrimmages will start at 7:00 p.m. in Homer Bryce Stadium.
Spring workouts will conclude with the annual spring game on April 11, at 7:00 p.m.
