Skip Jackson paced four Lumberjack players in double figures with 21 points in SFA's 75-69 loss to McNeese State Monday night, before 1,321 fans in the Coliseum. Jackson was 8 of 14 from the field, including 3 of 5 on 3-pointers for the night.
Three other Lumberjacks joined the Beaumont sophomore in double figures with Ron Banks and Scott Spradlin adding 13 each and Emanuel Jackson adding 11 for SFA. F Ransom White led the Lumberjacks on the glass with 11 boards, he also added five points.
Turnovers were the story of the night as McNeese State turned 18 SFA miscues into 31 points, while the Lumberjacks could manage only four points off nine McNeese State blunders.
SFA shot 49.1% from the field in spite of starting the night 2 of their first 9 from the floor. McNeese State shot 43.1% and an even 30% from beyond the three point arc.
Tierre Brown led the Cowboys with 21 points, Demond Mallet added 17. C Raynell Brewer blocked five Lumberjack shots inside. With the win, McNeese State clinched their first outright SLC basketball title since the 1972 season.
