
SFA Indoor Track Competes Successfully At Jeff Davis Invitational

LAKE CHARLES, Louisiana -- The Stephen F. Austin State University indoor track program competed in the Jeff Davis Invitational Meet hosted by McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana Saturday, January 20. Both the Ladyjacks and Lumberjacks faced 16 different collegiate teams while in Lake Charles. With 50 points scored the Ladyjacks finished the meet in third place. The Lumberjacks finished in fourth place with 36 points.
Freshman Justin Meier, a distance runner from Lorena, Texas had a successful meet with a second place finish in the 1600M run. Meier finished the race with a time of 4:24.56. This places him in the top five in the Southland Conference this week.
Sophomore thrower Ashley Blake Gordon placed first in the shot put with a throw of 44-04.28. Gordon, from Gladwater, Texas improves in the Southland Conference rankings this week. She is currently ranked third in the SLC with a throw of 45-10.50 which she threw January 12, 2001 at the Leonard Hilton Memorial Indoor Meet in Houston, Texas. She placed fourth.
The Ladyjacks and Lumberjacks will be back in action Saturday, January 27 at the Louisiana State University Invitational in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
