NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- Stephen F. Austin head basketball coach Danny Kaspar has announced the signing of two student-athletes to letters of intent to play basketball for the Lumberjacks next fall. The signees include one high school senior and one junior college transfer.
Kaspar and his staff signed 6-7 forward Steven Ozier from Brazosport High School to a letter earlier this week. Ozier averaged 20.3 points and 15.3 rebounds per game last season for coach Mark Harris at Brazosport High School. He was also a two-time First Team All-District 24-4A performer, and earned All-Brazoria County and First Team All-Region honors following his senior season. Ozier was also named the MVP of District 24-4A, and the Defensive Player of the Year. The 6-7 forward also lettered in football and track at Brazosport High School. He was an All-District wide receiver on the football team at Brazosport High School.
The Lumberjack coaching staff also signed a 5-10 point guard from Weatherford Junior College. Warren Busby earned First Team All-Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference honors last season as a sophomore, leading his teams to a 60-8 record in the past two seasons. Busby led the league in assists in both seasons at Weatherford, and also added 14.1 points per game as a sophomore.
As a freshman, Busby helped his team to a record of 34-3 and a third place finish at the national junior college tournament. Weatherford also led the nation in team scoring that season. Busby is rated as one of the top junior college point guards in the nation.
Kaspar said that he expected at least two additional signings early next week.
