NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- Stephen F. Austin head basketball coach Danny Kaspar has announced the signing of three more recruits to national letters of intent to play basketball at the university next fall. All three new recruits are junior college transfers.
Kaspar has added to his back court with the signing of Skip Jackson, a 5-11 guard from Panola Junior College in Carthage. Jackson, a Third Team All-Texas Eastern Conference selection as a freshman this past season, played his high school basketball at Beaumont Central High School. He will have three years of eligibility with the Lumberjacks.
Jackson averaged 18.0 points and 2.3 assists per game for coach Rennie Bailey at Panola. Jackson was also third in the TEC in three point field goal percentage, connecting on 43.5% of his shots. The 5-11 combo guard also shot 78% at the free throw line.
The Lumberjacks also signed a second player from Panola, 6-7 forward Ransom White. The junior from Lafayette, Louisiana helped Panola to 32 wins in his two seasons in Carthage. White finished the 1999-2000 season averaging 12.3 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. He was also ninth in the TEC in rebounding. White was an Honorable Mention All-Texas Eastern Conference selection this past season.
The third signee, Scott Spradlin, attended Incarnate Word in San Antonio for one year before transferring to Northeastern Colorado Junior College this past season. Spradlin, a 6-5 guard from San Antonio Clark High School, played one year for Kaspar at Incarnate Word.
At Northeastern Colorado, Spradlin was the team's best defensive player according to coach Lowell Rumph. Spradlin averaged 10.2 points per game, shooting 37% on three-pointers for the season. Spradlin helped his team to a record of 24-14 last season, qualifying for the national junior college tournament, where they finished seventh.
Kaspar and his staff earlier announced the signing of Steven Ozier, a high school senior from Brazosport, and Warren Busby from Weatherford Junior College.
