McNeese State Too Much For Lumberjacks

LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - Slade Nagle passed for two touchdowns and Marcus Trahan ran for two more Saturday night as McNeese routed Stephen F. Austin 37-7 in the Southland Football League opener for each team.
Nagle threw a 52-yard touchdown pass to Jermain Martin in the third period and a 15-yard pass to Jeff Hamilton as McNeese (4-1, 1-0 SFL) opened a 31-6 lead over SFA (3-2, 0-1) early in the fourth quarter. He finished with 11 completions in 22 attempts for 195 yards.
Trahan had touchdown runs of 7 yards early in the second period and 1 yard with 5:37 left in the game. He had 59 yards on 12 carries and Jessie Burton led McNeese runners with 128 yards on 23 attempts.
McNeese also got a 40-yard field goal from Charlie Hebert to open the scoring and on a 9-yard touchdown run by Aaron Pierce that gave the Cowboys a 17-0 lead with 11:31 left in the half.
SFA's only score came on a 1-yard run by Gary Allen with 28 seconds left in the first half.
Derrick Blaylock anchored SFA's offense, gaining 98 yards on 19 carries. Wes Pate completed just 5 of 21 passes for only 51 yards for the Lumberjacks.
