Mikkel Bjerch-Andresen is in his first season as Stephen F. Austin's assistant men's and women's golf coach, announced by head coach Trey Schroeder on Friday, July 29, 2016.
“I’m very excited to add Mikkel to the staff as he brings a great deal of energy as well as playing experience at the highest level,” Schroeder said. “Stefanie Gray did a great job helping me start and bring success to the women’s golf program, and now it’s Mikkel’s opportunity to help me continue the growth of both the Lumberjack and Ladyjack golf programs.”
Bjerch-Andresen competed at Baylor from 2011-14 and posted a 73.79 career scoring average, ranked 12th all-time in Bear program history as well as 11th in career rounds played (124). He was named the Big 12 Golfer of the Month in October 2014 after winning medalist honors at the 2014 Royal Oaks Intercollegiate, becoming just the fifth player in program history to earn the award.
During his four-year career at Baylor, Bjerch-Andresen notched seven top-10 finishes and 17 top-25 showings, registering 47 rounds of par or better, including a 6-under 66 on two occasions. He was a two-time Academic All-Big 12 honoree and a five-time Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll member, showing his commitment to the classroom, earning his degree in business.
A native of Baerum, Norway, Bjerch-Andresen played for the Norwegian junior and amateur national golf team from 2009-14. He won the 2010 Titleist Tour Order of Merit, helping Norway to a second place finish at the 2010 European Boys Team Championship in Istanbul, Turkey. Bjerch-Andresen also finished fifth at the 2010 Egyptian Amateur Open while competing in the 2011 British Amateur Championship.
