Prior to SFA: Lettered at David Crockett High School in Austin … Competed as both a wide receiver and quarterback … Played for his father, John, the head coach of the Cougars … Named All-District 25-5A Second Team offense as a senior in 2017, leading Crockett to its first playoff appearance in three years as the Cougar's starting quarterback … Accounted for over 2,000 yards as a senior, passing for over 1,100 yards and rushing for over 800 yards … Earned District 25-5A All-District honorable mention at quarterback as a junior in 2016 and claimed District 26-5AAll-District honorable mention accolades at wide receiver as a sophomore in 2015.
