Garrett Graf enters his third season at Stephen F. Austin in 2026 and his second as the Lumberjacks’ offensive run game coordinator. Graf, who has coached SFA’s offensive line since joining the program prior to the 2024 season, added run game coordinator duties in April 2025.
Graf helped SFA capture the 2025 Southland Conference championship with an 8-0 league record and advance to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division I FCS Playoffs. The Lumberjacks finished 11-3, recording their most victories since 1995.
SFA ranked second in the Southland in scoring offense at 35.4 points per game and total offense at 393.1 yards per game in 2025. The Lumberjacks also ranked second in passing efficiency, fourth in rushing offense and fourth in passing offense. SFA led the conference in red-zone offense, converting 91.1 percent of its opportunities, and ranked second in first downs and third-down conversions.
Graf’s offensive line helped the Lumberjacks rush for 2,200 yards and 27 touchdowns while allowing the fewest sacks per game in the Southland during the regular season. Center Erik Gray became SFA’s first consensus All-America offensive lineman since 2011 and was named the Southland Conference Offensive Lineman of the Year. Gray and Chimdia Nwaiwu each earned First-Team All-Southland Conference recognition.
During Graf’s first season in Nacogdoches in 2024, the Lumberjacks led the Southland in scoring offense at 35.6 points per game, passing efficiency with a 161.9 rating and red-zone offense at 93.5 percent. SFA ranked second in total offense at 431.8 yards per game and passing offense at 271.5 yards per game while finishing fourth in rushing offense at 160.3 yards per contest.
The Lumberjacks rushed for 1,924 yards and 17 touchdowns during the 2024 campaign. Nate Adams, the unit’s only returning starter entering the season, earned Second-Team All-Southland Conference honors after starting all 12 games at center and guard. Following the season, Graf was promoted to offensive run game coordinator.
Before arriving at SFA, Graf spent the 2023 season as the co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Colorado State University Pueblo. The ThunderWolves finished 8-3 overall and 7-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference while averaging 42.0 points and 156.5 rushing yards per game. CSU Pueblo scored a school-record 85 points and accumulated a program-record 764 yards of total offense in a victory over Fort Lewis.
Graf previously coached the offensive line and coordinated the run game at Midwestern State from 2020-22. During his tenure with the Mustangs, he oversaw the development of the offensive line and helped construct one of the Lone Star Conference’s most productive rushing attacks.
Graf began his coaching career at his alma mater, the University of Texas, serving as a graduate assistant with the offensive line during the 2018 and 2019 seasons. Working alongside veteran offensive line coach Herb Hand, Graf assisted with position drills and player development, organized offseason position meetings, mentored graduate transfers and coordinated the Longhorns’ defensive scout team. He also assisted with on-campus recruiting and the academic development and transition of newcomers.
A former Texas offensive lineman, Graf joined the Longhorns as a walk-on in 2014 and earned a scholarship prior to his senior season in 2017. He appeared in victories over UTEP, San Jose State, Baylor and Kansas during his career. Graf was named to the 2017 Academic All-Big 12 Second Team, earned four selections to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll and twice received Texas Athletics Director’s Honor Roll recognition.
A native of Grand Prairie, Texas, Graf was a three-year starter and two-time all-district offensive tackle at South Grand Prairie High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Texas in 2017 and a Master of Education in Sport Management from Texas in 2019.
