Rusty Pendergrass is entering his first year at Stephen F. Austin as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator.
Rusty spent 23 years as an MLB scout for the Houston Astros and the Arizona Diamondbacks. He has signed 13 major leaguers and is credited with scouting Hunter Pence and Ben Zobrist. In 2005 he was on staff when the Astros won the National League championship. Rusty is a member of the Texas Scouts Association Hall of Fame.
Rusty is married to his wife Tao and has two children Madison and William. His son William currently plays baseball at Baylor University.
